The Dahme-Spreewals district provides a superb quality of life in every respect. Situated just outside Berlin, the district is literally afloat with lakes, rivers and canals. Boundless forests, meadows and fields dominate the landscape. The Dahme-Heidensee nature reserve in the north and the Spreewald biosphere sanctuary in the south offer a wealth of opportunities for outdoor leisure pursuits. Likewise, living close to a lake or river is made easy, too, thanks to the availability of pleasant, attractive plots at moderate prices.
Make the most of your time off
For those who prefer an exclusive atmosphere, the Motzen golf club would be the place to go; sailing facilities are available on the extensive reaches of the Wolziger See and at many other venues. And people who fancy the silent and graceful way of flying without an engine will find ideal conditions at the Friedersdorf glider field. Popular destinations where local residents like to go shopping, or just relax, are the town centres of Königs Wusterhausen, Luckau and Lübben, but also the greenfield mall "A10 Center" just off the motorway junction "Schönefelder Kreuz". The former palace of Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm in Königs Wusterhausen and the water castle "Fürstlich Drehna" are absolute musts for the culturally and historically interested. And those with more modern tastes may like to spend a vacation day amongst rainforests and lagoons, entertained by shows and exotic food, in the impressive "CargoLifter" hall of the "Tropical Islands" theme park.
