Logistics

The Dahme-Spreewald District offers superb conditions for logistics businesses. Its direct transport links to the Berlin conurbation, its location right in the geographical centre of the Single European Market, and its excellent multimodal transport infrastructure are unbeatable advantages for businesses operating from this region. This is also borne out by the fact that renowned companies like Schlecker, DHL (mail distribution centre at Schönefeld) and Nestle/Campina (Distributa) have set up in this district; they seem to find the northern business locations particularly attractive.

Excellent future prospects
More than 2,000 people are currently employed by the logistics companies in the district. The large pool of highly-skilled labour is an outstanding advantage of this location – as much as the degree course in logistics that can be studied at the local University of Applied Sciences of Wildau. With its 35,000 students and 50 professors, this college offers an enormous potential for the recruiting of executive staff as well as for the commissioning of projects in applied research.
Cross-region development activities
The activities to develop the regional logistics industry are an integral part of the logistics initiative Berlin-Brandenburg. New businesses setting up in the area will find a range of industrial and commercial sites comprising a total area of 300 ha at their disposal.
