Travel
The region is served by an impressive multimodal transport system: its competitive edge is an integrated network of road links, inland waterways, as well as rail and air links.
The Schönefeld motorway junction south-east of Berlin is a direct link with Hamburg, Warsaw, Prague and Paris via the A10, A12 and A13 motorways. The region's excellent motorway network is complemented by a canal link via the port of Königs Wusterhausen as well as a dense railway network.
The airport of Schönefeld in the north of the district will shortly be upgraded to main airport of the state and will be renamed Brandenburg International Airport (BBI). This improvement will entail new and viable growth prospects for the entire Dahme-Spreewald region.
